Hi,i am trying to install Exchange 2007 SP1 in a Windows 2003 Server standard 32 bits version.During the "Readiness checks" i received the next error in "Hub transport role prerequisites":--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Error:There was a problem accessing the registry on this computer. This may happen if the Remote Registry service is not running; it may also indicate a network problem.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Remote Registry service is running. I've searched for the error in google and in some topics appears that the error is due to the "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing" is not installed in the LAN properties. The server has 2 network cards and in both of them is checked. One of the connections is disabled.I dont know what more to do, any help will be appreciated.Thanks

Is there any firewall software running on the server that blocks traffic to remote registry service? have you read exchange setuplogs for more clues

What account are you using/loged on with? It must be a domain account with administrator permission on the local server.There is also more permission needed in the configuration container in AD.

My account is administrator I've been stop all exchange services (exceptionMicrosoft ADAM) I'vent local Firewall and I receive the follow error: [ERROR] There was a problem accessing the registry on this computer. Hi Carlos,I just fixed this problem myself by running Windows repair. It happens during Exchange check could not stop remote registry service. -John

I tried restarting "Remote Registry" Service as well as "TCP/IP NETBIOS Helper" service. It dint help. I had disabled / unchecked "File & Print for Microsoft Networks" under NIC Properties for "PRIVATE" network. After I enabled / checked the same again, the installation went through.

Hi guys, I managed to resolve this problem by enabling the "Computer Browser" service and setting it to "Automatic". On the Win2k3 Ent/64bit installation I was trying to run this on, this service was disabled.

Go to Firewall properties under COntrol panel go to change settings Advanced Tab and under the Local Area connection. Make sure Windows firewall n remote registry service is running CJ

Just an fyi for all those still searching: in Windows 2008 R2, you need to enable Network Discovery and File Sharing, then enable the Computer Browser service and start it.Karl

I've found that if the host you are installing on is multihomed then disabling all the [non-LAN] network interfaces on the machine temporarily during the installation gets you around this issue.

Same idea: in the networking control panel, advanced tab, promote the NIC that has the file & print sharing enabled to be the first in line, i.e. the default. Worked for me...but all the above discussion pointed me in the right direction, thanks!

I had the same error on my test environment. I installed Exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows 2008 R2 Ent server. I fixed it by adding my Exchange server machine (eg. XMail) to the DC Builtin Administrators Group. I knew the error is sometimes misleading. I hope this helps other Admins.
